KONINGSDAG 2025

What is King’s Day?

The Dutch celebrate King Willem Alexander’s birthday, ‘King’s Day’
(or Koningsdag in Dutch). Being the most highly celebrated holiday in the
Netherlands, King’s Day holds a special place in the hearts of the people.
Can we still celebrate in Orange City, Iowa? Yes! Tulip Festival is right around
the corner.

We will use King’s Day as a way to celebrate Orange City’s residents
and volunteers who will soon make the Tulip Festival a celebration of our Dutch
heritage and welcome thousands of guests to join in on the fun.

A fun day in partnership with the Chamber Merchants, Dutch American Heritage Museum, Dutch Heritage Boosters, and the Orange City Tulip Festival.

Schedule of Events

Join us at the Dutch American Heritage Museum and Downtown on Central Ave for fun activities all day. We will close Central Ave and have a fun day of celebrating the “ORANGE” in Orange City!

It might be confusing when the Dutch flag is red, white and blue, but Orange is the color you will need to celebrate King’s Day like Dutch. Why? Orange of Royal Family, which hails from House Orange. And of course, our town is named after the Royal House of Orange, so it only seems fitting to celebrate!

We will encourage the town to wear orange for occasion and we have shirts for sale so community members can wear them for the event.
